Pompholyxophrys punicea Archer 1869

Pompholyxophrys punicea: although this protist looks like an heliozoan this organism is a filose amoeba with a silicous test. Because of the chance of mistaken identity Pompholyx is mentioned in both groups. In contrast to P. ovuligera this species has spherical scales. (1)
